Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) following a unanimous affirmation by the party’s leadership.

Speaking at the event, the National Chairman of the APM, Alhaji Yusuf Dantali, described the presidential primary process as one of the most peaceful, transparent, and rancour-free exercises in Nigeria’s political history.

Following the affirmation, Dantali presented Makinde with the party’s Certificate of Return and officially handed over the APM flag, symbolising his nomination as the party’s standard-bearer for the presidential election.

Makinde’s consensus candidacy was unanimously endorsed by all 36 state chairmen of the party, underscoring the broad support he enjoys across the federation.

The event is currently ongoing at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a related development, KAKAKI OKEOGUN NEWS reported that Governor Seyi Makinde has urged the Federal Government to stop deceiving the masses concerning the creation of State Police.

Speaking at a gathering, as seen in a viral video, Makinde recalled how states in the Southwest established the Amotekun Corps.

According to the governor, Amotekun was an afterthought after the governors of the region found it difficult to achieve State Police.

“Some people will know insecurity was one of the major pillars of this administration when we established Omitutun phase one and phase two, and it will remain a major pillar.

“Before this government’s emergence, there was nothing like Amotekun in Oyo State. We wanted State Police. It was because we couldn’t get the State Police that we established Amotekun as a stopgap. They should stop wasting Nigerians’ time,” he said.
