I recently had the profound honour of attending the celebration of life and burial party held in glorious memory of the late patriarch of the Oyebamiji family, who passed on to glory at the venerable age of 106. The exceptionally colourful event was held in honour of the father of our esteemed brother, Hon. Atiku Oyebamiji, the Chairman of the APC Oyo Central District. I attended this memorable gathering in the highly distinguished company of our party’s gubernatorial flag-bearer, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, PhD, and the exceptional representative of Oyo Central Senatorial District in the Red Chamber, Senator Yunus Akintunde. Beyond the celebration of longevity, the occasion served as a beautiful, warm opportunity for us to bond, laugh, and constructively deliberate on the collective future of our great party and our dear state.
I am particularly humbled by the immense mutual admiration, fluid camaraderie, and progressive chemistry that characterised our chats and deep discussions throughout the event. Travelling together in the same vehicle allowed for an effortless, friendly atmosphere where we seamlessly aligned our thoughts on the strategic path ahead for Oyo State. It truly felt like we were unleashing an everlasting and sustaining bond of friendship and progressive intimacy. Watching the effortless political synchronisation between myself, Senator Alli and Senator Akintunde further gave me absolute confidence that the leadership structure of the APC in Oyo State is tightly woven, intellectually grounded, and completely focused on the massive task of reclamation ahead.
During our time, I was also reminded of the profound grassroots impact being made by Senator Yunus Akintunde. Seeing the love poured out by his people, I am completely unsurprised by the affectionate moniker-"Tanatana" (The Erand of Light)-given to him by his constituents. This title is a richly deserved testament to his massive and visible investments in illuminating streets and powering up various localities across the Oyo Central Senatorial District through sustainable solar infrastructure. As someone whose academic background heavily values calculated delivery over mere political noise, I find his execution-driven leadership style to be deeply inspiring and entirely reflective of what a true progressive representative should be.
The warm reception and deep respect I experienced from both leaders and the present constituents felt like a beautiful form of internal integration and genuine appreciation for the bold, sacrificial step I took to endorse Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, PhD, ahead of the primaries. It is deeply gratifying to see that our decision to prioritise party cohesion has been met with such open arms and warm validation from the very highest echelons of our party. The AKK movement is fully home, fully appreciated, and firmly integrated into this powerful alliance. We left the occasion not just as political allies, but as brothers united under one unshakable vision to deliver total victory for the APC and usher in a prosperous tomorrow for every citizen of Oyo State.
