After a prolonged legal battle, the Court of Appeal this morning in Ibadan has upheld the ruling of the High Court regarding the Bagii chieftaincy dispute in Saki.
The case was initially filed by Prince Jimoh Olabode, also known as Niyaas, challenging the legitimacy of the current Bagii of Saki.
Justice L.A. Ganiyu of the High Court of Oyo State, Saki Judicial division had earlier ruled in favor of High Chief Adegoke Ghazaal Alade Olasunkanmi Abdur-Rasheed Adekilutoro I.
Dissatisfied with the verdict, Prince Jimoh Olabode Niyaas pursued an appeal to overturn the decision.
However, the Court of Appeal has now affirmed the ruling, solidifying High Chief Adegoke Ghazaal’s position as the rightful Bagii of Saki.
This judgment brings an end to the protracted legal contest over the prestigious Bagii Chieftaincy title.
The ruling reaffirms the legitimacy of High Chief Adegoke Ghazaal Abdur-Rasheed's selection and installation as the Bagii of Saki.
Supporters and family of the Bagii Adekilutiro I celebrated the verdict as a victory for justice and tradition in Sakiland.
The judgment is expected to foster peace and stability within the Otun Community and Saki at large after years of legal disputes.
With this final ruling, High Chief Adegoke Ghazaal Abdur-Rasheed Adekilutoro I remains the undisputed Bagii of Saki land.
