A boy has been killed and several worshippers injured after bandits attacked a mosque during Maghrib prayers in Namama community of Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident was contained in a post shared on X on Monday by security analyst, Bakatsine.
According to the post, the attackers stormed the mosque while worshippers were observing evening prayers amid heavy rainfall and opened fire indiscriminately on those inside.
The attack reportedly led to the death of a young boy identified as Adamu, while several other worshippers sustained injuries and were rushed for medical attention.
“Yesterday evening, bandits attacked worshippers during Maghrib prayers at a mosque in Namama community, Giwa LGA of Kaduna State, amid heavy rainfall.
“The attackers opened fire indiscriminately, killing a young boy identified as Adamu and injuring several other worshippers,” Bakatsine wrote.
According to Bakatsine, prayers are also ongoing for the recovery of those injured.
“How many more civilians must lose their lives in places of worship before effective measures are taken to protect vulnerable communities?,” he asked.
In another development, bandits attacked Gwon-Ajang village in Foron district, Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau, killing at least seven people. They raided the village on Sunday night.
Speaking with Peoples Gazette on Monday, Rwang Tengwong, spokesperson for the Berom Youths Moulder-Association, said the attack occurred around 9:30 p.m.
“At least seven persons were reportedly killed in another armed invasion perpetrated by terrorist gangs of Fulani at about 9:30 p.m. or thereabout on 31st May, 2026 in Gwon-Ajang village of Foron District, Barkin Ladi LGA,” Mr Tengwong said.
According to him, more than 10 people were wounded in the attack
