GOVERNOR BUNI APPROVES APPOINTMENT OF YERIMA IBN MAHMUD AS NEW EMIR OF NGAZARGAMU, YOBE STATE
Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the appointment of Yerima Ibn Mahmud as the new Emir of Ngazargamu.
A statement signed by the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mohammed Goje, says the appointment followed the demise of the late Emir of Ngazargamu, Tijjani Ibn Saleh Geidam, who passed away recently in Egypt after a prolonged illness.
He was laid to rest in Geidam on Thursday after funeral prayers held in Damaturu.
The statement notes that before his appointment, the new Mai Ngazargamu held the title of Turakin Ngazargamu, a position he occupied for sixteen years.
He also served as a member of the Yobe State House of Assembly.
While congratulating the new Emir and the people of the Ngazargamu Emirate, Governor Buni urged the monarch to deploy his vast experience toward fostering unity, promoting peace and harmonious coexistence, and advancing economic growth within the emirate, Yobe State, and Nigeria at large.
The governor also called on the people of the emirate to support the new Emir in the discharge of his responsibilities, stressing the need for collective efforts to ensure peace, unity, and prosperity in the domain.
