Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recovered a cache of high-calibre weapons and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during an offensive operation against Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbi State.
According to a statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the operation was carried out on June 14, 2026, around the Dogon Daji general area in Dandi Local Government Area.
The statement says the troops overpowered the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to flee the area.
It adds that a follow-up pursuit along the terrorists' withdrawal routes led to the recovery of a cache of arms, explosives and logistics equipment abandoned by the fleeing elements.
Recovered items included Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple improvised explosive devices, two motorcycles used for mobility, battery chargers and other personal belongings.
The Army says no casualties were recorded among the troops during the operation.
Lieutenant Colonel Osoba notes that the success underscores the commitment of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to dismantling terrorist and bandit networks across the region and ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
