IGP CHARGES NEWLY PROMOTED SENIOR POLICE OFFICERS TO EARN PUBLIC TRUST
Promotion in the Nigeria Police Force is more than a change of rank.
It must translate into safer communities, ethical leadership and renewed public confidence.
That was the message from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, as newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General and Commissioners of Police were decorated with their new ranks.
The IGP described the promotion as recognition of hard work and professionalism but stressed that the new ranks come with greater responsibility.
He charged the officers to lead with integrity, embrace intelligence-led policing and maintain zero tolerance for corruption.
Beyond fighting crime, the IGP urged the senior officers to mentor younger personnel, prioritise their welfare and build a police force that earns public trust through professionalism, accountability and compassion.
On the alleged extortion of the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) by officers in the Federal Capital Territory, the IGP commended the swift action taken by the FCT Commissioner of Police.
He assured Nigerians that the officers involved would face the full weight of disciplinary procedures, stressing that corruption and misconduct have no place in the Nigeria Police Force.
