UBEC Recovers ₦100bn Unclaimed Grants, Boosts School Infrastructure
More Nigerian children are set to benefit from improved learning facilities as the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) recovers more than One hundred billion naira unaccessed matching grants to drive basic education reforms across the country.
Christiana Akande reports that The Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, Aisha Garba, stated this at a media parley in Abuja where she says the commission, in collaboration with State Universal Basic Education Boards have constructed more than 4,600 classrooms and renovates 6,100 others, as well as the establishment of over 2,300 Early Childhood Care Development and Education Centres to strengthen foundational learning.This reform, the she says is as a result of its 2025–2031 Strategic Blueprint.
The Executive Secretary also notes that UBEC is expanding digital literacy centres to strengthen smart schools, she however urged the media to remain active partners in providing balanced reports that will strengthen public confidence and encourage greater stakeholder participation in the delivery of quality basic education across Nigeria.
