NIS PROCESSES 8,552 PASSPORT APPLICATIONS IN FOUR COUNTRIES THROUGH TARGETED INTERVENTION EXERCISES
The Nigeria Immigration Service has enrolled 8,552 Nigerians through targeted passport intervention exercises in the United States, Canada, Qatar and the United Kingdom.
In a statement, the Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, says the exercises were conducted following the directive of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in collaboration with Nigerian diplomatic missions and community representatives.
The United States exercise enrolled 535 applicants in Chicago, Michigan and Milwaukee, while 2,257 were enrolled across Manitoba, Toronto, Saskatoon, Alberta and New Brunswick in Canada. Qatar recorded 751 applicants, while 5,099 have so far been enrolled in London and Manchester in the ongoing United Kingdom exercise.
The Nigeria Immigration Service says passport production and dispatch are being carried out concurrently in the United Kingdom, while applicants who could not secure appointments or prefer not to visit the centres can use the Contactless Passport Application System.
The Service reaffirms its commitment to making passport services more accessible, timely and convenient for Nigerians in the diaspora.
