Oyo Needs Structure, Not Just Programmes — AKK Campaign Message Resonates

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have been called upon to rally support for Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem, whose policy proposals are being presented as a shift toward sustainable economic growth and institutional reform in the state.
The call comes amid growing conversations within the party on the need for a new direction, with proponents of Kareem’s candidacy arguing that Oyo State’s challenges are less about the absence of programmes and more about weak structures, poor sustainability, and lack of accountability.
Kareem, popularly known as AKK, is positioning himself as an ideas-driven candidate with a focus on building systems that deliver long-term results rather than short-term political gains.

Central to his agenda is what he describes as a “credit culture revolution,” which seeks to introduce a technology-driven credit scoring system linked to interest-free loans.
According to his supporters, the initiative is designed to ensure proper repayment of funds, reduce default rates, and allow for continuous recycling of resources to benefit more citizens over time. The model is also expected to promote financial discipline among beneficiaries.

Another key component of his blueprint is the proposed “AKK House,” a state-wide innovation hub aimed at empowering young people and small businesses. The hub is expected to provide digital and vocational training, support entrepreneurship, and facilitate access to structured financing, all geared toward stimulating economic growth across the state.

Advocates of the AKK agenda say the proposals would have direct impact at the grassroots level, enabling traders to access sustainable funding, equipping youths with employable skills, and fostering stronger local economies through continuous empowerment initiatives rather than one-off interventions.

They further argue that Kareem’s emphasis on accountability, structured development, and collaboration with party leaders makes him a viable option for APC stakeholders seeking a more enduring legacy for the state.

As internal discussions continue within the APC, stakeholders are being urged to weigh the choice between maintaining existing approaches or embracing a system-focused model aimed at delivering lasting prosperity for Oyo State.
