Father’s Day: Rtd. Col. Gbenga Adegbola Expresses Deep Concern Over Abducted Orire School Children and Teachers, Prays for Their Safe Return
As families around the world celebrate Father's Day, Rtd. Col. Gbenga Adegbola has used the occasion to reflect on the true values of fatherhood — love, protection, sacrifice, guidance, and responsibility — while expressing deep emotional concern over the unfortunate abduction of school children and teachers in Orire.
In his Father's Day message, Col. (Rtd.) Gbenga Adegbola stated that while the day is meant for joy and appreciation of fathers and guardians who continue to make sacrifices for their families and society, his heart remains heavy over the painful situation facing the affected families in Orire.
He described the incident as heartbreaking and emotionally disturbing, noting that no parent should experience the pain, fear, and uncertainty of not knowing the whereabouts or safety of their children. He emphasized that as a father and community leader, he deeply shares in the sorrow and anxiety of the parents and loved ones whose children and teachers remain in captivity.
According to him:
> "As we celebrate Father's Day and recognize the role of fathers as protectors and providers, our thoughts and prayers must also be with the innocent children and teachers in Orire and their families. I can only imagine the pain and sleepless nights these parents are enduring. My heart goes out to them."
He called on all relevant stakeholders, security agencies, government authorities, traditional institutions, community leaders, and concerned citizens to intensify efforts and work collaboratively towards ensuring the swift and safe rescue of the victims.
Col. Adegbola also urged Nigerians to use the occasion of Father's Day to offer sincere prayers for divine intervention and protection over the abducted victims.
He prayed:
> "May Almighty God protect the abducted children and teachers wherever they are, strengthen them with courage and hope, guide those involved in rescue efforts, and grant their families comfort and strength. We pray for their quick and safe return home."
He further reiterated that collective responsibility, unity, and decisive action remain essential in confronting security challenges and safeguarding the future of children and communities.
