Kogi State Police Command says it will begin enforcement of mandatory use of reflective jacket by commercial motorcyclists from 1st July 2026. It adds the reflective jackets must bear serial numbers and rider's identification cards across the state.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Kogi State Command, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat says, the measure is part of ongoing efforts to address security challenges through identification of commercial motorcyclists operating in Kogi State.
All commercial motorcyclists are required to wear reflective jackets bearing their serial numbers and with rider's identification cards and colour code allocated to their zones, while conducting their business.
Each none is given a code code as follows. Kogi Central Senatorial Districts is coded yellow, Kogi West Senatorial District is blue and red is for Kogi East Senatorial District.
The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi has therefore directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to ensure strict enforcement of the directive while maintaining professionalism and respect for the rights of citizens.
The Command advises the general public to always take note of the serial numbers on the reflective jackets and other identification details of commercial motorcyclists they patronize, as such information may provide useful security information for future references when necessary.
