The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), and Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, have identified education, active citizenship, and community cooperation with security agencies as vital tools in the fight against banditry and terrorism.
They stated this during the commissioning of the Kaduna Christian Academy, a school donated to the Christian community by friends of the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi.
General Musa described the school as a strategic non-kinetic approach to tackling insecurity, stressing that lasting security can only be achieved by defeating ignorance and hopelessness through education.
He urged citizens to support security agencies with credible information, noting that terrorists and bandits often rely on local collaborators.
Representing Governor Uba Sani, the Kaduna State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, James Kanyip, reaffirmed the state's commitment to expanding access to quality education, describing it as a powerful tool for development and social transformation.
Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for the 19 Northern States and the FCT, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, said the project reflects the belief that education remains one of the most effective solutions to insecurity, poverty, and other social challenges.
The Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque, Kaduna, Professor Suleiman Adam, commended the DSS Director-General for promoting interfaith harmony, noting that a similar school was earlier donated to a Muslim community in Kaduna State.
