NSITF CONTINUE TO ATTRACT MORE INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION
Nigeria's efforts to strengthen its social protection system are attracting international recognition, with the Republic of The Gambia seeking to learn from the country's reforms in workplace injury compensation and social insurance.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, says the week-long study tour by members of the Board of the Industrial Injuries Compensation Fund of The Gambia's Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation reflects growing confidence in Nigeria's social protection framework.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Kamil Shoretire, the Minister made the remark while receiving the Gambian delegation, led by the Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Oluwaseun Faleye, during a courtesy visit to the Ministry.
He said the ongoing reforms at the NSITF are yielding positive results, with improved compensation processes and extensive digitisation ensuring that claims are processed more efficiently and beneficiaries receive prompt attention.
The Managing Director of NSITF, Oluwaseun Faleye, described the collaboration as timely and mutually beneficial, noting that Nigeria and The Gambia share similar socio-economic realities and can exchange valuable experiences to strengthen their respective social protection systems.
Members of the Gambian delegation expressed appreciation for the opportunity to understudy Nigeria's social insurance model, describing the visit as insightful and beneficial to the advancement of social protection in their country.
