Supporters of APC senatorial aspirant, Col. Gbenga Adegbola (rtd), have expressed concern over what they described as growing dissatisfaction among party faithful in Oyo North Senatorial District following recent developments within the party.
Five buses were chartered to convey people from Ajegunle, Kinnikinni, Ayekale, OTUN, Apinnite, Sanngo and from other areas in Saki-West to form the crowd giving each person the sum of #2000.
The group also alleged that efforts were being made to create an impression of widespread grassroots support for Mrs. Hannah Ogunesan in parts of Oke-Ogun, particularly in Saki. According to the supporters, many party members remain dissatisfied with the outcome of the party's senatorial nomination process and believe the will of grassroots members was not adequately reflected.
The Adegbola supporters further claimed that the retired military officer remains the most popular APC figure in the district, citing his longstanding engagement with communities across Oyo North and his support base among party members.
They maintained that the party leadership should carefully assess the mood of party faithful in the district and take steps to address grievances before the 2027 general elections.
"Our concern is the unity and electoral strength of the APC in Oyo North. The party hierarchy must listen to the voices of loyal members and ensure that justice, fairness and internal democracy prevail," a member of the group said.
The supporters warned that unresolved disputes surrounding the senatorial ticket could affect party cohesion if not properly managed. They therefore called on the leadership of the APC at both the state and national levels to engage stakeholders and work towards a resolution that would strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from Mrs. Hannah Ogunesan or the APC leadership regarding the allegations and concerns raised by the group.
