INSTITUTE OF DIETICIANS URGES NASS TO CONSULT WIDER ON NUTRITIONISTS COUNCIL BILL
The Institute for Dietetics in Nigeria has called on the National Assembly to consult more as it works on the Bill seeking to establish the Nutritionists Registration Council.
The Institute while briefing the press says the Bill, reportedly backed by the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, would create a parallel regulatory body that duplicates the powers already contained in the Dietitians Council of Nigeria Bill.
It warns that having two councils with overlapping authority will cause confusion, institutional conflict, and weaken patient safety.
The Institute insists that nutrition and dietetics practice affects human lives and must not be opened to multiple regulatory councils, urging lawmakers to support a unified regulatory framework.
