Reps Seeks Improved Medical Services in NYSC Camps
The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government, through the Ministries of Youth Development as well as Health and Social Welfare, to improve medical services and emergency response in National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps nationwide.
The call follows a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Representative Unyime Idem, seeking an investigation into the death of Comrade Etimbuk Daniel Sunday at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Awgu, Enugu State.
The House notes with sadness that Etimbuk Daniel, a serving corps member and former President of the Students' Union Government of Akwa Ibom State University, died on October 11, 2026, following a medical emergency at the camp.
Lawmakers mandated four standing committees of the House to investigate the circumstances of his death and assess medical facilities in NYSC camps.
In another motion, the House urged the Federal Government to crack down on the productions and sales of adulterated food and beverages across the country.
