A 27-year-old man has been remanded at a correctional facility in Yola, Adamawa State, after he was accused of breaking into a woman’s home and stealing 22 pairs of pants for alleged ritual purposes.
The suspect, identified as Muktar Shehu of Zango Ward in Jimeta was brought before the court by the Police Command on allegations of house trespass, theft and criminal charm.
According to a First Information Report (FIR) presented to the court by the prosecutor, Inspector Danjuma Hamidu, the incident occurred on August 6, 2026.
The prosecution alleged that Shehu broke into the home of Halima Yakubu and took 22 pairs of pants along with other clothing items.
The prosecutor told the court that during police interrogation, the suspect allegedly admitted taking the clothing items for ritual purposes.
When the charges were read to him in court, Shehu pleaded guilty.
Following his plea, the prosecutor applied to call a witness to corroborate the admission.
The court subsequently ordered that the suspect be remanded at a correctional facility pending further proceedings.
